• Assignments related to public activities of the safety unit in order to achieve its objectives:
  • The evaluation of work environments to determine the influencing factors in order to control them. 
  • Preparation of technical personnel specialized in the areas of occupational safety and health to fill vacancies in the institutions of public and private sectors
  • Carrying out field studies in various economic activities to identify occupational safety and health  problems and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Making scientific researches in all fields of occupational health and safety, publishing and documenting them and collaboration with the competent bodies within and outside the university.
  •  Participation in the preparation of standard specifications required in the field of occupational safety.
  • Studying and analyzing incidents of work-related injuries to know why they occur and to develop appropriate solutions to reduce them.
  •  Spreading health awareness among employees and students through seminars, courses, and providing the necessary technical advice.
• Tasks related to prior safety matters to the university:
  • Supervision of The Safety Unit with the competent authorities in the development of designs and building plans.
  • Making sure that the machines and equipment are functioning properly before use.
  • Talking appropriate measures to protect machinery, and other means of education methods.
• ​Tasks related to periodic tests of the machines and devices in order to work well.
• Tasks related to personal protective equipment in terms of access and ways of dealing with it.
• Educating the students in terms of safety matters:
  • ​Develop a program to educate students, to familiarize them with the conditions of dangers and risks and methods of prevention of injury.
  • Working to increase awareness and interest in matters of student’s safety and occupational health and using it to meet this purpose.
  • Constant monitoring and guidance for students to follow the safety rules in everything they do.
• ​ Assignments for the first aid and prevention of the impact and results of accidents and sudden emergency:
  • to work on the supplying of equipment and machinery that are necessary and essential to  first aid.
  • Work on an emergency team made of students to cope with sudden incidents that require speed and accuracy in work.
• ​Assignments related to fire prevention and protection in general of all hazardous materials that threaten public safety: supplying of equipment and fire extinguishers and putting them in specified locations and places is necessary and so for the coordination with civil defense.
• Tasks related to records and statistics.
• Functions for the analysis of accidents and work injuries.
• Tasks related to developing and raising the level of safety at the university by educating the staff and students about the importance of occupational health and safety.
• Perhaps the most important function of the unity of safety in the Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) is to provide services and assistance to residents in Hebron and the south.
