Marble and Stone Center (TEVT) was established in 2009 at Palestinian Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron, and is considered the first center in the middle east that interested in stone and marble industry. This TVET center is based on a unique partnership brings together Palestinian Ministry of National Economy (the public sector), Palestinian Polytechnic University-PPU (the academic sector), and Union of Stone and Marble-USM (the private sector). This project is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and is funded by the Italian government.
This center aims to foster the development of Palestinian industry in the area of stone and marble by working on supplementing the industry with local learner stuff holding a diploma from the Faculty of Applied Professions at Palestinian Polytechnic University- Hebron. In addition, the center will organize specialized training courses for workers in stone and marble industry, to provide them with the knowledge of the latest international technologies and operating machines in the industry. The Center will provide also some laboratory tests for stone and marble needed by the Palestinian merchants through the process of exporting products.
