Yafa Jaradat, a student from the College of Information Technology and Computer Engineering at Palestine Polytechnic University, has emerged as the winner of the quantum computing hackathon organized by New York University in Abu Dhabi. The hackathon was held from April 27 to 30, 2023, and saw participation from 263 students, professors, researchers, and engineers from over 54 countries.
Jaradat secured her place in the competition after winning first place in Palestine's first hackathon, sponsored and organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Computing Committee, represented by Dr. Mousa Farajallah, the founder of the Palestinian Hackathon.
She won first place in the hackathon for her project "Smart Current," which uses quantum-based technologies to solve complex algorithms and create applications that serve society in the Arab world and beyond. The Palestinian Polytechnic University team, along with other Palestinian teams, participated in the competition under the guidance of Dr. Mousa Farajallah, who is an associate professor at the College of Information Technology and Computer Engineering.
Participation in such international competitions aligns with the university's vision of globalization and its strategy of fostering creativity among its students. It aims to increase their competitiveness and open up local and international opportunities for them through scientific curricula that build an entrepreneurial personality.
