On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the Palestinian Medical Council held its first meeting for the new session at its headquarters in Al-Bireh, chaired by Dr. Mai al-Kaila, the Minister of Health. During the meeting, Dr. Majed Dwaik, the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, was appointed as a legal member of the council.
Dr. Mai al-Kaila welcomed the new members and emphasized the importance of active participation in improving the level of medical education and training in Palestine.
The primary focus of the council is to graduate specialized doctors with high professional and scientific competence according to international standards. The council also works to improve health services in Palestine by raising the scientific and practical level of doctors in different specialties through cooperation with educational institutions.
The council also sets recognized training specifications for preparing specialists in various branches of medicine, monitors its retention at the prescribed level, and reviews it periodically to keep pace with medical progress according to international standards.
