Two PPU Researchers Publish Chapter on Lightweight Cryptographic Techniques and Cybersecurity Approaches

Haneen Dweik and Mohammad Abutaha in the IT and Computer Engineering Master’s Program at PPU published a chapter entitled "A Survey of Lightweight Image Encryption for IoT" in the book Cryptography - Modern Theory and Practices in IntechOpen. The chapter deals with modern and advanced encryption systems, including lightweight Cryptographic algorithm.

The chapter concludes that Lightweight cryptographic algorithm, compared to other algorithms, uses less space to provide the same information, which solves the computation and high protection problems. The result is reduced storage space and shortened computation times.

Most smartphones, laptops, and other communication devices are connected to the cloud today, making data accessible to everyone. Encryption is one of the best ways to make IoT networks secure since so much data is being transferred. A lightweight block cipher is one of the most sophisticated means for overcoming the security problems inherent to IoT networks; hence, the importance of the study.
