Signing A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and A National Partnership between Palestine Polytechnic University and the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA)

The PPU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for institutionalizing a national partnership to open horizons for local and international future cooperation with the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA).  PICA  is an agency that aspires to promote and enhance " the Global Solidarity Policy for Sustainable Development" in all fields,  especially the goals it seeks to achieve in light of the second millennium development goals - internationally agreed on-  through its international activities. The activities aim to highlight the Palestinian identity by strengthening the role of "Palestinian experiences at home and Diaspora" in the transfer of "knowledge" in all developmental fields.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ayman Sultan, Vice President for Planning and Development and Dr. Imad Zuheiri, the Director of  the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency and its international activities, in the presence of Dr. Ishaq Sidr,  member of the National Council and the Dean of the College of Applied Professions, in addition to a number of the Ministry staff, the Agency and the University.

The two parties stressed the importance of the national partnership in conveying the image of a constructive Palestinian as well as establishing a institutionalized community background for serving the Palestinian government and people. In addition, the two parties discussed the importance of vocational and technical education as a source of local and international development.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Head of the Minister's Office Dr. Ahmed Al Deek, honored a number of academic specialists at the University and the  College of Applied Professions who gave a team of multidisciplinary and experienced staff of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Agency a series of training courses in different fields,  ranging from information security, professional photography, graphic design, social networking sites and techniques of use. These courses were  in a continuous series of mutual meetings for a month and a half,  and  took place in Hebron and Ramallah at the headquarters of the University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The honored trainers were Mohammed Abu Taha, Abdul Fattah Al-Najjar, Duaa Sharbati, Mr. Salah al-Sabbar,Mr. Ashraf Odeh, and engineer Mohammad Al Fakhouri.

It is noteworthy that the MoU has focused on a set of goals and shared visions, coordinated and arranged by Mahmoud Tahboub, representing the University team  and another team representing the  Palestinian International Cooperation Agency.

At the end of the meeting, certificates were distributed to participants in the training courses by a staff from  the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Agency.

In another context, a delegation from Palestine Polytechnic University made a visit to the Representative of the Islamic Cooperation Organization to the State of Palestine, Ambassador Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi,  who welcomed the delegation, including engineer Ayman Sultan, Vice President for Planning and Development and a number of the University staff  including Ms. Sondos Talibishi, Coordinator of the Department of Public Relations, Mr. Ayman Sa'id, International Affairs, and Mr. Mahmoud Tahboub. After that a review was given on the cooperation in the University educational projects.

The ambassador also pointed out the role of the General Secretariat of the Islamic Cooperation Organization and Islamic Countries and its commitment in supporting the Palestinian people to enhance its empowerment and steadfastness, emphasizing the interest of the ICO's various agencies, especially the Islamic Solidarity Fund, to support the university projects aimed at growth and development.

The participants as well stressed the importance of future cooperation in the many different fields that serve the State of Palestine.
