On February 19, 2018, the University Graduates Union, represented by its Chairman/Chairman of the PPU Board of Trustees Mr. Ahmad Sa’eed Bayoud al-Tamimi, received Dr. Mousa Shakarneh, the Chairman of Land and Water Settlement Commission and the engineer: Salameh Awawdeh, the Director of Access Company to discuss the prospects of joint cooperation. The meeting was attended also by the members of the UGU Council, the Representative of the Governor of Hebron District Dr. Rafiq Ja’bari, in addition to the President of the University Dr. Imad Khatib, the Representative of the PPU for Community Services engineer Mohammad Ghazi al-Qawasmi, the Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Nafeth Nasreddin, the Chairman of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering engineer: Faidi Shabaneh , and the academic staff and technicians at the College.
Al-Tamimi welcomed the guests and then he gave an overview about the UGU and its glorious history. He also praised the role the LWSC played in preserving the land and encouraging its legal registration to protect it against the Israeli fraud and theft. After that he talked about the PPU’s role in graduating qualified engineers and technicians in surveying and geometrics to work in the field of land settlement, emphasizing the importance of the fruitful cooperation with Access Company in supporting the surveying and geometric engineering specialization and its sector. He also thanked them for donating a leadership room in the College of Medicine at the University with a cost of $15.000.
As well Dr Mousa Shakarneh thanked the UGU and the PPU for their role in supporting the educational sector and he stressed the importance of their joint cooperation, expressing his pride of the graduates of the Surveying and Geometric specialization at the College of Engineering, in particular, and the PPU graduates, in general.
In his talk also, Dr. Imad Khatib gave an overview about the University achievements and its strategic plans to transform it into an entrepreneurial, not forgetting to mention that the University has recently won competitions at the regional and global level. He also talked about the university unique and distinguished specializations at the level of the State of Palestine and the University research and services centers that serve all the Palestinian community sectors.
In a related context, engineer Salameh talked about the most important and recent photogrammetric techniques and applications in land settlement. Then he explained the way of extracting technical surveying reports required by the Land Authority and the Land and Water Settlement Commission.
Shabaneh as well stressed the importance of real partnership and cooperation between the two parties and he said:” Coordination is going to continue with the Land and Water Settlement Commission and we will soon witness the signing of a joint agreement between the PPU and the LWSC “. He then thanked the Access Company for its continuous support and contribution in preparing laboratories and supporting the students in all specializations.”
At the end of the meeting, engineer Mutaz Qafisheh from the College of Engineering gave an overview about the Surveying and Geometric Engineering specialization, indicating the number of graduates, availability of employment opportunities, and the leading positions graduates currently occupy in Palestine and the entire Arab World.
