The PPU has hosted the HULT PRIZE Global Competition in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Abu al-Safa, the Vice President of the Academic Affairs, Dr. Nafez Nasreddin, the Dean of the College of Engineering, and Mr. Mohammad Atawneh, the Competition Coordinator.
In their talks, Dr. Abu al-Safa stressed the importance of holding such competitions that motivate the university students to provide initiatives that serve both the community and humanity in the field of power and that the University will continue with its strategy towards entrepreneurship and support its entrepreneur students. Mr. al-Atawneh also said that the HULT PIZE was founded by the Palestinian businessman Ahmad al-Ashqar when he was a student at Hult Business International School. He said that Al-Ashqar believed that solving the global problems could come from the students and the young people. Then Al-Atawneh thanked all those who participated in organizing this competition at the PPU, giving a special thanks to Dr. Iyad Hashlamount, the Presidents of Mechanical Engineering Department.
It is noteworthy that the theme of this year competition has focused on finding innovative ideas in terms of the use of power to change the lives of ten million people to the better, The winning team in this completion will be awarded a one million dollar prize.
On Thursday December 28, 2017, Fourteen teams from the PPU competed in this competition. At the end of the competition, “Pioneers” won the first place, “Teslasol” came in the second place, and “PS Power” was in the third place. The jury committee was consisted of Dr. Iyad Hashlamoun, Dr. Ramzi Qawasmi, Dr. Hasan Sawalha and Dr. Maher Maghalseh.
It should be mentioned here that the HULT PRIZE has become an international competition since the year 2010. Every year it focuses on an international problem that calls on university students around the world to form teams to provide solutions for problems.
