The Hebron Governor decides to adopt the Palestinian National Center at Palestine Polytechnic University as a national specialized consultancy in matters pertaining to occupational safety and health alongside various environment pollutants tests under the

 On February 15, 2017,  the Governor of Hebron District decided to adopt the Palestinian National Center at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) as a national consultancy in matters pertaining to occupational safety and health alongside various environment pollutants tests under the Governorate’s Public Safety Committee, in the presence of  Mr. Ahmad Said Bayoud al-Tamimi, the Chairman of the Board of Palestine Graduates Union, Prof. Dr. Imad al-Khatib, the President of the University, Mr. Marwan Sultan, the Deputy Governor of Hebron District, Dr. Mustafa Abu Safa, the Vice-President of the Academic Affairs,  Dr. Ayman Sultan, the Vice President of Planning and Development and International Relations, the University administration, the representatives of the implemented projects and programs.

The visit to the PPU vocational and technical training centers has aimed at discussing the projects funded by the Governorate’s Local Council for Employment and Training at the university. These projects received funds from the European Union and implemented by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation. The two project the PPU has received are the Center of Occupational Health and Safety and launching a vocational training program in smart buildings for homes and industrial plants.

Al-Tamimi welcomed the attendees, thanking the representatives of the Local Council for Employment and Training  in the Hebron district for their continued support to the vocational and technical education centers at the university. He talked also about the university activities and its success stories at the national level.

 Engineer Ayman Sultan talked briefly about the funded projects through which a set of specialized laboratories in the field of smart buildings and occupational health and safety have been established. He also pointed out that the academic and training staff have received training in this area and developed the curriculum  required for teaching students the latest technology to control smart homes and industrial plants, stressing the importance of education and technical training in the local market, through the creation of a technically specialized cadre to meet the local market needs.

The Director of the National Center of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Protection engineer Nafeth al-Sha’rawi gave a brief information on the center and its laboratories, its activities and services, and training and studies, in addition to counseling  and research in this field.

For his part, Mr. Kamel Hmaid, the Governor of Hebron District thanked the members of the Local Council for Employment and Training in Hebron for their efforts to contribute to the success of the vocational and technical training centers in the District. He also thanked the members of the PPU administration for their excellence in the management of  these centers. He considered the adoption of the Palestinian National Center as a national consultancy in matters pertaining to occupational safety and health alongside the various pollutants environmental tests under the Governorate’s public safety Committee one of the important outcomes of this meeting. He also said that the main goal of his visit to the PPU is to serve the local community and provide the center and the university with all the required equipment and laboratories.”

Then the Governor gave an overview of the Employment and Training Council in Hebron which is considered as center number "1" on the national level. Then he thanked the team who worked at this Council and praised the true partnership with the PPU which is the base for all Palestinians. He added that they must strengthen and support this partnership because the general Palestinian situation requires that we go towards vocational and technical education and tackle the problem of unemployment by pushing the students towards this field, noting that more than 20 institutions in Hebron and hundreds of jobs have benefited from these projects.

At the end of the meeting, they visited the vocational and technical training laboratories at the university and learned about all the capabilities and devices available at the laboratories. The attendees expressed their admiration for the equipment and the technical level which is the first on the national level.
