Palestine Polytechnic University concludes the Brainstorming Camp Days within Jadarah Initiative in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

 

The Brainstorming Camp Days within Jadarah Initiative, carried out by the entrepreneurial Business Development Incubator in the IT Center of Excellence at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), ended on January 11, 2017. This camp was conducted  in partnership with the UNDP within the project of Economic Empowerment DEEP and funded by the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah.  It was attended by engineer Basem Dodin,  the Director of DEEP, Tala Khalifa, its Coordinator, Dr. Imad al-Khatib, the President of the University, Dr. Ayman Sultan, the Vice President of Planning and Development, and Dr. Mohammad Ghazi al-Qawasmi, the Vice-President of the University Community Service  in addition to the university deans of colleges and chairmen of various departments.

The President of the University, al-Khatib, has stressed the importance of “Jadarah” Project in developing the participants’ abilities and determining their future career or making their own enterprises, wishing all the success to this initiative in providing creative ideas and services to the business community and achieving good results that will be reflected on the university students and graduates.

The Coordinator of this program, Dodin, has stated that this program “DEEP” comes within  a series of projects funded by the UNDP to assist the Palestinian people in different areas; most importantly is the economic empowerment of the low-income Palestinian families and turn them into productive ones. He has also pointed out that this program is a training model between the university and the local community institutions and it helps the participants to depend on themselves and determine their own life.  As well he has praised the expertise and competencies of PPU in the field of entrepreneurship, adding that this initiative is a prelude to other partnerships with the university after the project ends

After that a discussion was held by the expertise about different issues like the market needs, success stories, companies registration, and the reality of entrepreneurship in Palestine, and then certificates were distributed  among the participants in addition to honoring the university most creative persons for the year 2016 and the university ambassadors of entrepreneurship.

At the end of the meeting, there was a brainstorming marathon for students about proposed projects. The students' ideas were evaluated and then prizes were given to students with distinguished ideas in the presence of Wisam Shamroukh, the Director of IT Center of Excellence, and Mr. Ali Ramadan, the Coordinator of  Jadarah project.

It is noteworthy that Jadarah Initiative is a year-long integrated program to enable the students and the graduates of the Palestinian universities in Hebron district to improve the surroundings by making their own startup enterprises to increase employment opportunities through intensive practical training and the embrace of small and micro startup projects.
