The PPU welcomed a delegation from the Union of Stone and Marble on October 27, 2016. The attendees were Prof. Dr. Imad al-Khatib, the PPU president, Engineer Jawad Haj, the director of Stone and Marble Center, Mr. Sameeh Thawabteh, the chairman of the Union, Mr. Noureddin Jaradat, the head of the administrative body of the union in Hebron, Abdel Karim Halayqah, member of the Administrative Board, Omar Za’areer, Hasan Abu Qubaitah, Zayed Oudeh, and Ismael Warasneh, members of the Administrative Body in Hebron, Engineer Maher Hshayesh, the Executive Director of the Union and his Deputy Mr. Wisam al-Taraweh. This visit aimed at the continuity of the partnership between the Union of Stone and Marble and Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU).
During the visit, they discussed many issues related to the Stone and Marble Center, its future and how to maintain the continuity and improve services to meet the needs and aspiration of the stone and marble sector in Palestine.
The delegation then visited the Stone and marble Stone Center and looked at the latest testing and training laboratories and learned about the most important services the center provides.
As a matter of fact, the Stone and Marble Center is the first of its kind that is specialized in this industry in the Middle East and is equipped with the latest machines and equipment. It is noteworthy that this center came as a product of a unique trilateral partnership, bringing together the academic sector, represented by PPU, the public sector, represented by the Palestinian Ministry of National economy, and the private sector which is represented by the Union of Stone and Marble.
