Palestine Polytechnic University coming First at the “World Skills Competition” in Graphic Design profession

The PPU, represented by its student: Ibrahim al-Qawasmi, Diploma in Multimedia at the College of Applied Professions(CAP), has received the first place at the “World Skills Competition”  in graphic design profession. Another four contestants from various educational and vocational training institutions of different levels have also won at this competition. 

This competition, Palestine Skills Competition (PSC),  was organized by the Union of the Chamber of Commerce and was supported by both the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The winners in this competition are going to participate in the WSC as representatives for the State of Palestine which will be held in the coming year, October, 2017,  in the United Arab Emirates. It should be noted here that more than 70 countries are competing in approximately 60 professions.

The results of PSC have been announced in a ceremony at the National Institute, attended by representatives of ministries and national and international institutions.  14 young men and women from the West Bank  districts competed in four professions.

From his part, Naser al-Qatami, the Deputy Minister of Labor, empathized the determination of the ministry to bring about the necessary changes in the education system and vocational and technical training in Palestine through its supreme council, stressing the ministry’s constant efforts in improving the quality and the quantity of vocational training to be able to compete in the local, regional and international markets.

In compliance with the university vision to encourage innovation and creativity for the entrepreneurial students,  and the mission of the college of Applied Profession, Dr. Ishaq Sider, the Dean of the CAP had a meeting with the student: Ibrahim al-Qawasmi, to encourage him to participate in the WSC . It is noteworthy that the College staff designed a vocational training program for al-Qawasmi which is related to communication and English skills in order to participate in this competition with high confidence.

The WSC is a global event that inspires the coming generation to have a career in the field of technical and vocational education; moreover, it will provide a valuable opportunity for all the young contestants to participate in such competition and have a unique experience that enhances the spirit of competition and the vocational and technical capabilities at the personal and global level. In general, such competitions are very important and have a positive effect on the future career of the young.
