The PPU signed a memorandum of understanding with the Oxford Academy of Sciences for Safety for the objective of enhancing and developing mutual cooperation, that comes as consistent with the university vision as an entrepreneurial university, and to communicate locally and regionally with all the institutions and centers of occupational safety and health.
The PPU represented by Engineer Nafez Hamzeh Al-Sha’rawi, the Director of the Palestinian National Center of Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection, has signed this joint cooperation agreement with the Oxford Academy of Sciences for Safety, represented by Mr. Mohammad Sa’d Al-Qatami, the Representative of the Academy branch in Saudi Arabia.
Both parties have agreed to open channels of cooperation and work on coordination in the common areas, consultation and exchange of ideas and also work together on the implementation of the programs that aim at developing the abilities and the skills of workers in the relevant fields in addition to raise the awareness and culture in this regard. They have also agreed on the following set of general goals:
- Making research and studies and create a network of information and databases between the two institutions in the relevant fields.
- Having Cooperation and holding conferences, workshops, and meetings and making exhibitions on occupational safety and health.
- Raising awareness and knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health.
It is noteworthy that this is the first regional and international agreement the National Center has signed to start a mutual cooperation in matters related to occupational health and safety. It should be noted also that the signing of this MOU took place in the Academy's headquarter in Mecca, whereas the Academy's main headquarter is in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
