Life Skills Trainer
Youth for Environmental Sustainability Project
Introduction:
Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) has received a fund from USAID in Partnership with the Global Communities organization for the implementation of the Youth for Environmental Sustainability Project through the Active Citizenry Activity Project.
YES Project aims to transfer knowledge for environmental protection and combating climate change sound practices to the most vulnerable local communities in Hebron by the voice of the youth represented by PPU students. This will be accomplished through establishing the environmental clubs at PPU and carrying out awareness and advocacy initiatives designed and delivered by the students in the themes of circular economy and three R’s including water, sanitation, and hygiene - WASH, renewable energy, biodiversity, and smart technologies for the environment. The project contains three training programs for the participating students in the following aspects: 1) Life and professional skills including formal communication, public outreach, and public speaking. (2) Civic engagement, advocacy, and public awareness campaigning. (3) Content development for media and social media platforms. These programs will help students reinforce their understanding of environmental bylaws and regulations for combating climate change, environmental advocacy, and showcasing best and sound practices. Accordingly, PPU seeks the selection of one professional trainer who is qualified in life and professional skills training to conduct this training.
Assignment Objective:
PPU is considering selecting a highly qualified life and professional skills trainer who can design and implement the training and work effectively with students.
The designed training program must be tailored to meet the goals of the project by delivering concepts with a hands-on approach as participants of each training program apply the knowledge they receive during training sessions by developing activities to support the main goal of developing students' life and professional skills. The training will be given to PPU students aged between 17 and 25 who study in technical and engineering programs and have a scientific relevance to their study programs: so students should study in a program that specializes in one of the four themed clubs’ topics (circular economy and three R’s including water, sanitation and hygiene - WASH, renewable energy, biodiversity, and smart technologies for the environment)
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop an action plan for conducting the training program
- Design and submit effective training material for life and professional skills including formal communication, public outreach, and public speaking.
- Implement 30 hours of training in life and professional skills including formal communication, public outreach, and public speaking.
- Deliver a detailed training program and agenda, training material, and presentations.
- Ensure that participants understand and implement training content and acquired knowledge.
Training program methodology:
The trainer should be able to provide the training using interactive and engaging activities. Also, the training program should include activities, group exercises, and case studies relevant to the training action plan and agenda. In addition, it is preferred to use practical skill-building sessions where students can develop practical skills such as effective communication, time management, and critical thinking.
Deliverables:
- A detailed Action for a 30-hour life and professional skills training including program, agenda, training material, and presentations.
- Submit an end-of-mission report after completing the mentorship activities & and period, the trainer must deliver an end-of-mission report including a detailed description of the tasks above.
- Submit a pre and post-training evaluation and attendance sheet.
Qualifications and Skills:
- University degree in any related field.
- Three years of professional experience in delivering life skills training programs
- One year of proven experience in implementing related training programs
- High level of tutoring/training/instructing skills.
- Proficient in interactive and practical teaching methodology skills.
- Good writing and communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- An excellent ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- An excellent ability to develop progress reports.
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel).
