The Business Incubator at Palestine Polytechnic University, in partnership with UNDP/PAPP and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), concluded a competition under the “University Led Innovation and Entrepreneurship (UNI-Led)" program. This initiative, supervised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, aims to empower young entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators to create feasible and income-generating projects, enhancing job opportunities and strengthening the innovation ecosystem in Palestine.
Over three days, 54 emerging projects competed, with 16 selected to receive pre-incubation services and seed funding. These projects will benefit from mentoring and expert guidance to accelerate their development, addressing the needs of the Palestinian economy.
A jury of academic and private sector representatives, including leaders like Mr. Basil Al-Qadi, Dr. Hazem Shawer, and others, evaluated the projects based on presentations and written plans. Selected projects include Aqua Fresh Water, Bean Joy Cookies, Bio-Active Plant Extracts, Blind Sight, Haikal Arts, and several others.
The UNI-Led project provided over 600 hours of practical training and 260 hours of mentoring to 250 beneficiaries, covering topics such as design thinking, research marketing, intellectual property, and business model preparation.
