Palestine Polytechnic University, the Lutheran World Federation and the Department of Global Affairs Canada discuss prospects for joint cooperation

Palestine Polytechnic University discussed prospects for joint cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and the Department of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), in the presence of the representative of the Lutheran Federation Mrs. Zieglende Weinbrenner and the LWF’s staff, and the  Senior development officer  in the Office of the Department of Global Affairs Canada Mrs. Annie D’Anjou, and Senior Officer of economic development at the Canadian Representative Office Mr. Michael Creighton. The delegation was received by the President of Palestine Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Imad Khatib, his vice-presidents, and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Continuing Education.
Al-Khatib welcomed the delegation and gave a brief summary about the PPU, its academic programs and the services provided by its centers to the local community, pointing out the close relation between the University and the labor market.
Then, the Vice President of the University for Planning and Development, Ayman Sultan , explained  how the university turned into an entrepreneurial university through the many activities provided by the University teachers and students alike.
Mrs. Annie D’Anjou expressed her happiness at visiting the PPU campus and stated that the visit came within the "GRIT" project which aims to increase the integration of girls in education and vocational training and enhance job opportunities in the local market.
Ms. Zieglende Weinbrenner and Eng. Yousef Shalian emphasized the LWF’s role  in serving the Palestinian community and education and vocational training sector,  and he emphasized cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the two institutions.
In a related context, the delegation was taken on a tour to the University centers, such as the Biotechnology Research Center, Stone and Marble Center, the Palestinian National Center for Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection, the Open Laboratory for Computerized Design and Manufacturing "FABLAB". They also visited some specialized laboratories that serve many purposes and different groups of scholars, researchers, businessmen and many individuals in the community of all walks of life.
At the end of the visit, the delegation went to the Center of Excellence for Continuing Education, where the engineer Ashraf Zoghayyer briefed the programs and the services provided to the society, especially with regard to economic empowerment programs, vocational guidance, and business incubator services. Al-Zoghayyer also said that the Center is going to provide services in the field of e-learning and e-lancing. 
On the sidelines of the meeting, a visit was made to the recently opened the Precious Metals Workshop at the University's Center of Excellence for Continuing Education.
