On January 19, 2017, Prof. Imad al-Khatib, the President of Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), received a delegation, specializing in technical and vocational education from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Republic of Singapore, in the presence of Dr. Isaac Seder, the Dean of the College of Applied professions. The delegation consisted of the Director of ITE Educational Services Mr. Kong Chi Singh, the Director of Business Development Department ITE Educational Services Mr. Isaac Lim of the Republic of Singapore, and the Director of Public Administration for Technical and Vocational Education in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education engineer Jihad Dridi.
The visit aimed at the development of technical and vocational education sector and opening a gateway for scientific and historical communication among different cultures and learn about various academic programs.
The University President, al-Khatib, welcomed the guest delegation, and gave a brief information about the university and its development in all fields, emphasizing the quality of education in all the university disciplines which are mainly applied scientific ones. He also expressed the university interest in the diploma programs, and the ability of these students to engage in the labor market, noting that a large number of university students are working now outside of the State of Palestine. Then he discussed with the Singaporean delegation the scientific and research communication mechanisms and ways to strengthen the scientific cooperation between them.
The guest delegation expressed their admiration for the scientific level of the university and its achievements, and the importance of strengthening joint cooperation in many areas, especially in the field of the development of technical and vocational education system.
The Singaporean delegation were briefed on the experience of the PPU in advanced education and interdisciplinary courses and programs offered at the university, and they learned about the university strategy relating to the student-exchange program with other countries in the world in collaboration with institutions of higher education in those countries.
At the end of the visit, the guests were escorted on a tour around the campus and were given a brief information on the scientific laboratories and workshops, equipment and classrooms at the university.
