On November 24, 2016, the PPU received a senior delegation from the Representative Office of India in Palestine who were on a visit to the PPU. This visit aimed to look at the progress of work in the Autotronics Laboratory for modern automobiles, funded by the Government of India as a joint project with the Palestinian Ministry of Labor. This project aimed at equipping the educational institutions and technical and vocational training centers in Palestine with up-to-date laboratories, workshops and technical and training equipment that meet the needs of the Palestinian labor market.
The visiting delegation consisted of his Excellency: Mr. Anish Rajan, the Representative of India in Palestine, Mr. Moraldahararao, the Director of Projects at HMTI Company, and Mr. Mohammad Abu Shamsiyeh, the person in charge of the Public Relations for the Indian Representative. They were all welcomed by Dr. Imad al-Khatib, the President of the University in addition to the PPU vice presidents, representatives for the University administration, deans of colleges and heads of departments, and laboratory supervisors.
Then, the President of the university welcomed the guests and gave them introductory information about the university and the academic programs offered to students on both the Bachelor’s and the Master’s degree. Also, he talked about the university vision, its future plans, and its role in serving the local community.
As well Mr. Rajan, the Representative of India expressed his happiness about the intimate friendship between the two countries, pointing out the important role of the Ministry of Labor in facilitating the procedures of shipment and delivery of the technical equipment, not forget to point out the administrative, engineering, technical and logistic efforts that contributed effectively in making the laboratory come into existence in terms of planning, preparation, coordination and implementation.
After that, they took the delegation on a tour to the Autotronics Laboratory to see the progress of work and the technical and training equipment which were procured from the project budget, funded by the Indian government. Then, they met with the academics, engineers, and technicians working in the field of Automotive Engineering at the university and who supervised the installation, operation and the test of the training equipment and devices. Mr. Rajan expressed his admiration for the development of the university and its social role and interest in the various partnerships.
It is noteworthy that the company in India supplied the PPU with technical and engineering staff from its part to complete the installation and operation of the laboratory which continued for a whole week and will continue till the work is completed and finalized.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. al-Khatib, has informed the attendees that there will be an official celebration for the opening of the lab and invited the Indian delegation and the other relevant people in the Ministry of Labor and the local community to this celebration.
