The PPU has signed a cooperation agreement with CESVI and the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development to carry out the “Home Water Filters Assessment” project. The project is designed to install 150 filters (5 types of filters, ceramics, sand, etc.) to purify the water in the homes of Al-Musafer residents in Yatta. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the cadres of the laboratories of the Renewable Energy and Environment Research Unit and the graduates of the Environmental Engineering Technology. Several tests such as Total Cliform, Fechal Choliform, Turbidity, Flowrate ..etc will be conducted on water before and after filtering the water on a daily basis to determine the efficiency of the best water filter to be selected and used for purification, particularly in the future projects that are to be implemented in Palestine.
The agreement has been signed by Dr. Muemen Sughayer, the Vice President of the University for Planning and Development, and Mr. Marco Kanyato, the Director of CESVI office. The agreement signing took place in the presence of engineer Ayman Sultan, engineer Muhannad Nassar, the coordinator of Renewable Energy and Environment Research Unit and Mr. Abd Alnasser Da’na, the Director of the Public Relations, in addition to Mr. Mathew, representing CESVI and the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, Ghareeb Da’na, the Finance Director and engineer Iyad Adwan, the project engineer.
It is noteworthy that the University President Prof. Imad al-Khatib received in his office the representatives of CESVI and the IACD in addition to the project sponsors from the University and he valued highly the cooperation between the university and the Italian partners.
It should be also mentioned that the first steps of the project will be implemented during the month of October after the arrival of the Swiss expert from the filter manufacturing company to explain the sampling and examination mechanism according to a fixed methodology for all projects implemented on these filters in Palestine, South Africa and Somalia, The implementation of the project which will last for a period of six months will start after receiving all the examination and testing devices and the materials to be used in the project.
